Cloudy and Cooler Today; Real Cold Air Arrives Next Week

NEW ORLEANS — The cold front that moved through on Thursday will be stalled along our coast today. This will keep us cloudy and we will be cooler with lower humidity levels. High temperatures will be close to 70.  The cold front will retreat back north as a warm front tonight. This will keep our temperatures steady in the mid to upper 60s with plenty of clouds, patchy fog and scattered showers overnight.

Weekend Forecast: The warm front will be well north of us tomorrow and the strong cold front will move into SE Louisiana by Saturday evening. We will have scattered showers and maybe a rumble of thunder throughout the day. It will not be raining the entire time, but keep your umbrella with you all day. High temperatures will be back in the mid 70s.  It will turn much colder and breezy on Sunday with lingering clouds. High temperatures will only be in the mid 50s.

Next Week Outlook: An even colder air mass will move over us to start next week as high pressure sits over the Gulf South. Monday and Tuesday will have plenty of sunshine with high temperatures around 50 on Monday.  Monday night will be clear and very cold with a possible hard freeze on the Northshore and near freezing on the Southshore. Tuesday will be sunny with high temperatures only in the 40s. We will need to take freeze precautions on both sides of the lake.  Fortunately, the cold blast doesn’t last too long. Wednesday will be partly cloudy and back in the upper 50s. Then the 60s return on Thursday.
