NEW ORLEANS — We start this Thursday morning with showers and thunderstorms as the cold front moves through. Some of the storms could be strong with gusty winds and heavy rain. The rain will come to an end around 9 a.m. Then we will have a few peaks of sun before noon with chilly temperatures in the 50s.

This afternoon will be mostly cloudy, much colder and breezy with temperatures in the lower to mid 50s. Dress in layers today! Tonight will become clear and cold. Lows north in the lower to mid 30s and south in the upper 30s. There will still be a little breeze, so it could feel like the 20s and 30s. Bundle up!

Friday will be a gorgeous day with plenty of sunshine as an area of high pressure builds over us. It will be chilly with high temperatures only around 60.

Weekend Forecast: The area of high pressure will move east of us on Saturday. We will become partly cloudy and warmer with high temperatures in the upper 60s. A weak disturbance will move through Saturday evening into Sunday morning. It could set off a stray shower or two, but most of you will be dry. Sunday will be a pleasant partly cloudy day with highs around 70.

Next Week Outlook: The upper-level weather pattern shows we will have southwest flow over the Gulf South. This will bring us some daily upper-levels waves each day next week. This means we will have some active weather with daily scattered showers and storms. It will be warm and more humid with high temperatures in the lower to mid 70s Monday through Friday.
