Tracking the Tropics: All quiet through the weekend

NEW ORLEANS — In the tropics, all is quiet and no development is expected for the next 5 days. Models, however, have been hinting at a disturbance in the Gulf by the middle to end of next week. There is no agreement on the strength or track of this feature, but it is something worth keeping an eye on through this weekend and as we begin next week. We are creeping closer to the peak of the season and more development is certainly expected.

2019 Hurricane Season Outlook

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted 10 to 17 named storms. It says five to nine of them will become hurricanes and two to four of those would become major hurricanes with 111 mph winds or higher.
